play for a day ~ in my studio
Get those creative juices going whether you want to draw,
paint, or do collage. Perhaps you want to learn some new techniques
with fabric – paint them, make them, sew by
hand or machine. Bring a source of inspiration with
you – a photograph, an old letter, a piece of music or
a poem – whatever touches you. By arrangement,
this day includes basic materials and a simple lunch.
Susan has a number of areas of instruction to offer:
Creative Mending: Cover that nasty stain with a
hand-embroidered work of art!

before: a nail varnish spill
|

after: a beautiful dragonfly!

Felting Fun: using wool and other fibres, create a unique
soft sculpture which can be sewn into another project,
or embroidered, or wrapped around a natural
object to make a one of a kind piece.

Free Motion Embroidery: on your sewing machine or one of
mine, let’s have some fun and create some unique textures with painted,
dyed and computer-printed fabrics.

Greeting Cards: make a window card and produce a lovely
quilted miniature which can be further embellished with stitching or beads
or scraps of silk or feathers – anything
goes! Or do a collage with leaves, feathers, Japanese
papers, scraps of painted canvas. Whether it’s for a
special birthday or anniversary, or a series of
invitations, there is no end to the possibilities.

Watercolour Basics: geared to your level of
expertise and what you want to learn.
Fix an Unhappy Watercolour with Collage! You can re-crop
it, or glue papers over it; tear it up or scrub it out. Let’s
push the boundaries on how we can turn around a
picture that just doesn’t quite come off.
From 9:30 am until 3:00 pm or 4:00 pm
$99 for one person or $150 for two.
